About Judah Crawford
Hello, my name is Judah Crawford, and I'm a Computer Information Systems major at DMACC. I'm taking my CIS classes because I genuinely enjoy working with code and designing new things. For me, it's less about finishing an assignment and more about figuring out how something works and then making it better.
My interest in programming actually started back in 2012 with Roblox. Like a lot of kids, I spent hours playing games on the platform, but eventually I got curious about how those games were built in the first place. That curiosity turned into action in 2016, when I started making my own games using Lua. It was the first time I realized I could go from "I wonder how this works" to actually building something myself, and that feeling stuck with me.
Years later, in 2022, that same curiosity led me to Minecraft modding. I built my own modpack using KubeJS, a mod that let me write custom modifications using JavaScript. It was a great way to combine two things I love, gaming and programming, while picking up a new language along the way and learning how to shape an existing system into something more personal.
Outside of code, I'm big into reading and video games, and honestly, the two hobbies feed into my programming interests more than people might expect. Games in particular have taught me to think about systems, mechanics, and how small design choices affect the way something feels to use, lessons I try to carry into my own projects.
Right now, through my CIS coursework, I'm continuing to build on that foundation, and I'm excited to keep growing as a developer. I'm especially interested in projects that let me combine problem-solving with creativity, whether that's building tools, games, or applications.
